Err.. Interesting design for the bottle, don’t you think? :D . Leaves very little doubt about what the makers had on their mind when they came up with it.

I mean… look at it! Wonder if the initial design had been that - one would move the fist up and down, in order to spray the cologne.

Japs At It Again. This Time It’s ‘Ringtone’ Therapy

A while ago, I had posted about 'Number Therapy'. If that got you scratching your head, then this will make you want to pull your hair out.

Across Japan the arrival of spring is bringing out the cherry blossom but it is also making people reach for their handkerchiefs as, at this time of year, hay fever is rife.

A company called the Japan Ringing Tone Laboratory has developed what it claims is a cure.

For relief, sufferers need only wait for a call on their mobile phone. The sound is supposed to dislodge pollen if the user holds the handset up to their nose.

Another of the so-called therapeutic ring tones is for those trying to lose weight.

Link

Now a ringtone to cure our headaches/common cold bla bla. Sure, why not? And you thought Aroma Therapy was a stupid overhyped concept… Ha!

Japan Ringing Tone Laboratory – That’s the best name you guys could come up with? Seriously?! Anyways, this gets better:

The company is being led by Matsumi Suzuki – who was also responsible for a device called Bow-Lingual – a device that claimed to interpret the meaning of a bark. !??! FREAK ALERT!

Can’t Access Some Websites On BlackBerry?

opera-mini-logo

Some Websites can’t be accessed on the BlackBerry’s native browser. I had the problem opening an Online Banking website. A friend of mine had a similar problem while trying to access an Online Trading website. The site’s Homepage(s) are loading fine. The problem arises when one tries to log in.

Fiddling with the options didn’t solve the problem. Yes, I did try switching the Browser Identification to Internet Explorer and FireFox. Didn't help.

What did work was – installing Opera Mini on the BlackBerry. Using Opera Mini, I can now access the Online Banking websites. My friend tried it too and he can now access the Online Trading site as well.

Thought I would put it up. Just in case someone is having a similar problem.

To download, go to http://m.opera.com on your BlackBerry.

Penance

2mpcwoz

Why did I bother with this in the first place? Well, it’s got a lot to do with the text on the poster.

  • He made them pay for their sins
  • Inspired by true events
  • A brutally beautiful film you won’t be able to turn away

That was enough to arouse my curiosity. Watched it. TRASH!

Horrible acting. Pathetic direction. The film sucks. Thuuuu.

I honestly can’t understand WHY would a captive be allowed to keep a video camera with her!?! She gets a chance to escape from psycho-vile and what does she do? She insists on filming the other captives and their injuries for EVIDENCE purposes! (Shoot me. Shoot me NOW).

Her cell-mate is bleeding after a flogging session, but miss super concerned here won’t attend to her cell mate’s wounds until after she has set up the video camera to record the evidence. I would have refused to believe that a real person can be THIS idiotic, had I not encountered some equally (if not more) idiotic individuals myself.

Chuck all this.. here is a screenshot from the end of the film.

Picture 1

WTF is ‘anonomous’??I agree, lots of people can’t spell properly. BUT how the hell do you make and release such a pathetic movie and no one pointed out that there is a typo! Guess even the makers couldn’t bother to watch this shit till the end.

A brutally beautiful film you won’t be able to turn away - SURE!!!

Illiterate incompetent idiots.

Pathetic waste of time.

Pakistan Army Sexually Abusing Minority Women: NGO

The Pakistani army is sexually assaulting minority women and using them as sex slaves, alleges the European Organization of Pakistani Minorities (EOPM), an NGO working for the rights of minorities in Pakistan.

In a prayer-cum-demonstration held at the UN, it said the Pakistani army is taking minority women away from their families, raping them and then using them as sex slaves.

Link

Thankfully it's happening in Pakistan. If it were India - we would have Women's Lib Organizations and political parties demanding the army to follow a strict quota system.

Of the total rape victims - 25% have to be from the minority groups. The remaining should be from the majority castes. Reservations for EVERYTHING for a LIBERAL, SECULAR India with 'EQUAL' opportunity for all!

I wonder if the political leaders / Women Lib Organization heads / Minority group’s representatives, actually understand the term 'EQUAL OPPORTUNITY FOR ALL'.

BlackBerry Discussion

rim-blackberry-bold-smartphone

The other day, someone put up a rather interesting blog post up for discussion on the forum I visit. Do We Really Need BlackBerry’s? I will admit, it was an interesting read. But then - on the forum, someone shared an even more interesting view:

New Picture

The reasoning for that statement is even more interesting:

New Picture

My views:

Mentabolism - There are a hell lot of cheaper ways (which aren't too technical) to access porn. Access to restricted content might be an incidental reason, but I seriously doubt it’s an exclusive reason for buying a BB.

The 4 out of 5 people you know sound extremely dumb. As per your post, they are spending a minimum of KWD 13 every month exclusively to access restricted sites. Whereas all they could do is use one of the several workarounds available and access the restricted sites without paying anything extra.

If applying a proxy sounds too complicated / technical, all they have to do is go to any anonymization site - easily available by doing a simple Google search.

It's not that the workarounds have just cropped up NOW. They have been public knowledge for ages. and NO, one doesn't have to be an IT expert to figure out how these work. It's actually pretty basic.

BB is just a new fad, and like all fads - there is a period where everyone just has to get one. That's all. Accessing restricted content on the BB - LOGICALLY SPEAKING – can’t be the sole reason for the sales going up, simply because if accessing restricted content is the only requirement of the individual, then s/he would already be aware of several other workarounds.

As I mentioned, it can be an incidental reason but - LOGICALLY SPEAKING - it simply can't be an exclusive reason.

BTW, BB is no longer restricted to being JUST a business tool. It's become more of a social networking device. What with FaceBook, MySpace, Snaptu, Twitter and several other applications. These applications are available for several other handsets too.

The points you mentioned that made BB a business tool:

mentabolism wrote:

let me explain...A BB is a business tool, you use it to access your email and download attachements etc in a mobile environment.

Those features too are easily available on several other handsets. BlackBerry isn't the only device that offers access to emails and attachments.

Bloomberg's mobile application is not EXCLUSIVE for BlackBerry. It does run on iPhone and several other smartphones too. Same goes for several other BUSINESS applications.

Even the BB Messenger is no longer EXCLUSIVE for the BlackBerry. Using 3rd party applications, you can chat away with individuals using BBM on your iPhone.

It's not that restricted sites can be accessed on a BlackBerry alone. One of our forum user has accessed it on his Sony Ericsson handset using his Wataniya Sim Card (may be it was Zain/Viva not sure).

The simple reason for the sales going up is - BB is the latest fad.

I seriously doubt that an argument such as: "people want to access restricted content while on the move" would make any sense.

The possibility of a significant portion of the population being marathon masturbating maniacs seems rather unlikely.

They wouldn't be walking down the mall and saying (thinking) "ohh let's get a BlackBerry so I can surf porn websites and jerk off while shopping at Carrefour". (there might be some here and there, of course. But I doubt it would make up a significant portion of the cellphone using population).

They might get a BlackBerry for several other reasons

  • It's the IN-THING now.
  • Everyone has one.. hmm I should get one too.
  • Connected all the time to MSN Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, Google Talk.
  • FaceBook/other social networking sites connected all the time.
  • My girlfriend has it, I should get it too, then I can BBm her all day.
  • My boyfriend has it, I should get it too, then I can BBm him all day.
  • I like the way it looks (some people have a different taste).
  • Actually useful for some individuals.

They could get it for several reasons AND in the process even browse through the restricted sites. YES. But accessing restricted sites makes a very slim argument for it being an EXCLUSIVE reason for BB’s to be selling.

One doesn't go and buy a car with the exclusive intention to park it in an isolated place so he can make out with his GF. You can choose to do so, but you bought the car for several other reasons AND NOT exclusively for the above mentioned purpose.

The car MAY be used for that purpose. There MIGHT be a few cuckoo idiots who rented/bought a car exclusively for that purpose - BUT there definitely wouldn't be enough of those types to make up a significant portion of the car driving population for any one to conclude that the reason people are buying cars is so that they can make out with their GF/BF.

New Moon

New Picture

I spent a lot of time thinking why the hell I bothered to download New Moon. I would have to be stoned to actually put that nonsense on download. I saw it on the MacBook last night and I was like.. WTF!! When, Why and How the hell did I download THIS CRAP!!??!

Now since it was there, bandwidth wasted anyways - I hit play.. and watched the damn thing.

Given that I HATED Twilight, I didn't expect this to be better - but this was a new low in pointless / shitty / horrible films.

I have watched and enjoyed Vampire and Werewolf movies. Twilight/New Moon is NOT a vampire film. It's TRASH!

I JUST CAN'T UNDERSTAND how dumb people have to be to actually like this trash. I thought SRK movies were bad and his films getting hit status was baffling. BUT if bullshit like Twilight and New Moon can be a HIT.. I am no longer surprised by SRK movies becoming blockbusters.

Is This News!

IMG00024-20100320-0909

Saw this on one of Kuwait’s daily newspapers.  I don’t even think this qualifies as news, let alone worthy of featuring on the front page!

Listening to your doctor and taking your pills on time will reduce the risk of you dying.

Shocking! WOW - What a revelation.

The people/group who funded this STUDY probably hold the opinion that people just go to the doctors for kicks and throw away their prescribed medicines.

I am more concerned about the person in the newspaper office who thought this NEWS needed to be published. Now THIS person definitely needs to see a doctor, ASAP.

Sherlock Holmes

Picture 1

Well done Guy Ritchie

Deductive reasoning applied for a physical altercation, even before the first punch is thrown – NICE. I really did enjoy the narrative describing every hit accompanied by the slow-motion visuals. Nice touch.

Robert Downey Jr. - Impressive

Jude Law – Impressive

Rachel McAdams – Easy on the eyes. No complaints

I did have a problem with the world domination bit of the plot. A bit too James Bond-ish for me. JFTR, I have read very few Sherlock Holmes stories and I can’t recall any of them clearly. So I have absolutely no idea if it’s out of character for Holmes to have feelings for the ‘woman that got away’ or for Watson to be a gambler.

Nexus One: Sales Figures - Not Happening

google-phone-nexus-one-logo-symbol

74 days after the iPhone was introduced at $600 a pop, one million were sold.
The Droid, at $200: 1.05 million.
The Nexus One? An estimated 135,000 units. By any measure, that's a total sales flop.

Not putting up the name of the month and simply stating THIS MONTH – Convenient, isn’t it? You can use the same forward over and over again. Year after year. Month after month.

A quick Google search and the results were rather interesting. Apparently there was pretty much the same warning for Jan 2010 and Feb 2010 as well.

Also came across an interesting thread discussing the same. Where someone has put up a very appropriate reply:

Up In The Air

Picture 1I liked it.

I wasn’t really sure if I wanted to watch this movie or not.

Jason Reitman directed Juno. I hated the film. The thing is, Jason Reitman also directed Thank You For Smoking and I loved that film. Now I wasn’t really sure if I should bother with this one.

I figured, what the hell - it stars George Clooney, how bad could it be?

Not bad at all. I liked it.

Just got my hands on the Nexus One. Not bad. I am sure anyone interested already knows pretty much everything there is to know about the Android phone.

Speech to Text is a good option. Once you get it working, of course. Will definitely take a while before one can start using it as a reliable alternative to typing.

Can't seem to get the smart dialling to work. You know - where you go to the phone module of the handset and type the first few characters of the name, and the phone filters through your contacts to show you a possible match. I am sure it should have it. Possibly I just haven't figured it out yet (I am sure I looked every where, it might be, but... ahh well).

Personal view, not happening. I mean.. err.. just not that excited about it.

Legion

 Picture 1

Total crap. Absolutely pointless. Don’t really know what the makers wanted to make. When it started of, I was expecting it to be something like Constantine (I did enjoy watching that film). But this one was just trash, stupid, waste of time.

Lucas Black should give up acting.

A little 5-6 year old boy walking around with a knife/dagger, ready to kill.. Well that looks good only on Chuckie – The Good Guy (remember Child’s Play?). Not everyone can pull that off. Here, it just looked lame.

Just to show you how pathetic the film is - check out this quote. Kevin Durand is playing Gabriel (the angel):

Gabriel: Why do you continue to fight when you know all hope is lost?
Idiotic Lucas Black playing Jeep: FUCK YOU!

Do I need to say more?

The Fourth Kind

Picture 1

Err… this was.. well not really sure how to review this one. It was, interesting – perhaps. Just for the record, I hated X Files - I Want To Believe BUT I did like the series. Well, some of the episodes in the series for sure. I just enjoy the arguments that come up for and against the theory.

Coming back to The Fourth Kind - I didn’t want to yell as much as I do for most movies. I did like the way this was edited along with the actual recordings. Guess that was partly responsible for maintaining my interest. May be I just sat through the flick because of Milla Jovovich (I really like the look).

Loved this line which turns up in the end:

In the end - what you believe, is yours to decide.

Blind - Lifehouse

I was young but I wasn't naive
I watched helpless as you turned around to leave
And still I have the pain I have to carry
A past so deep that even you could not bury if you tried

After all this time
I never thought we'd be here
Never thought we'd be here

When my love for you was blind
But I couldn't make you see it
Couldn't make you see it

That I loved you more than you'll ever know
A part of me died when I let you go

I would fall asleep
Only in hopes of dreaming that everything would be like it was before
But nights like this it seems are slowly fleeting
They disappear as reality is crashing to the floor

After all this time
I never thought we'd be here
Never thought we'd be here

When my love for you was blind
But I couldn't make you see it
Couldn't make you see it

That I loved you more than you'll ever know
A part of me died when I let you go

After all this…
WHY?? Would you ever want to leave it
Maybe you could not believe it

That my love for you was blind
But I couldn't make you see it
Couldn't make you see it

That I loved you more than you will ever know
A part of me died when I let you go

Israeli Raid Cancelled After FaceBook Leak

Sigh… Some people are just plain stupid.

The Israeli newspaper Haaretz explained that the soldier posted a status update letting friends know that his unit was preparing to go to a West Bank village near Ramallah: “On Wednesday we clean up Qatanah, and on Thursday, god willing, we come home,” the soldier wrote.

Haaretz added that the soldier, who has been relieved of combat duty, “also disclosed the name of the combat unit, the place of the operation and the time it will take place.” After noticing his indiscretion, Haaretz reports, “Facebook friends then reported him to military authorities.”

Link

I am pretty sure that Osama or his gang wouldn’t have this soldier on their FaceBook Buddy List, but come on!This isn’t like you are letting your friends know that you are going for a long drive or chilling at a restaurant or stuck in traffic.

Pointless Commercial

Sorry about the terrible quality. This was showing on the tele and I used my cellphone’s camera to get the ad. The commercial has been doing the rounds for some time now. I just haven’t been able to find it on the net anywhere (perhaps I wasn’t looking hard enough) or else I wouldn’t have had to resort to capturing it on my cellphone from the tele.

Are they planning on selling soap or moisturising cream or hair removal cream? Believe it or not, this is supposed to be a commercial for CEMENT!

I am aware ke duniya mein bewaakoofon ki kammi nahin hai, par… ye kuch zyaada nahin hogaya?
Questions:
  • Which pathetic media/marketing agency would conclude that shooting a commercial like this would help sell CEMENT!?
  • How idiotic does the marketing manager - (of J.K. Cement) – have to be, to actually approve of such a commercial for it’s product?
  • How stupid are the board members / management – given that no one has yet suggested that the commercial be pulled off, the media company’s contract be terminated and the marketing manager be fired ??!??!
Anybody curious about the management? You can find the names here (updated the link. It seems their website was updated).

I am assuming that J.K. Super Cement is the same as J.K. Cement because of the information they have put up on their website (They have changed their website... so just see the screenshot below). Plus, at the end of the pointless commercial, it says “A Product Of J.K Cement Ltd.”

M.F. Husain Issue – My Views

lead1

Qatar offers citizenship to M.F. Husain.

I honestly don’t think this qualifies as a major headline, but there it was. I read the headline, scanned through the article and moved on.

The next thing I see is blog updates with the news item and everyone commenting on the news. It was all over BUZZ, people leaving comments on the TOI site. For a second, I thought this would become the leading Trend Topic on Twitter!

Just couldn’t figure out WHY? How does this concern ANYONE other than M.F. Husain?

How does this even qualify for a discussion? People saying - no he shouldn't take it OR no.. he shouldn't be given the option for Dual Citizenship OR we are not happy with so and so thing happening.

Some of the comments were really confusing. These comments went something like – “Good. We don’t need an Indian like him. I would be happy if he is no longer an Indian. India doesn’t need him. But why is Qatar offering him a citizenship? Would they tolerate if he did so and so”.

So you don’t want him to have any nationality at all? Ok.

  • Would that stop him from painting?
  • Would you no longer be offended by his work if he didn’t have a nationality?
  • Would his views / comments / art be less offensive if he was stateless?

Please tell me how does his nationality have any effect on your disapproval / appreciation for his work? Would his controversial paintings offend you less, if he wasn’t an Indian? Would you appreciate his art work more, if he belonged to another nationality?

It's not like the fans would love his paintings more if he was an Indian or a Qatari or both. For the people who don't approve of his work / views - it's not like they would disapprove any less or any more if he was an Indian or a Qatari or both.

The point is - you will like his work or hate his work or disapprove his work or appreciate his work - REGARDLESS of his nationality.

To faaltu mein itni bakwaas karne ki kya zaroorat hai?

Dikhaawon pe mat jaao…. Apni akal ladaao.
